Similar to setting up an initial session with a psychotherapist, our first session together will be about getting to know each other and completing an initial assessment to determine if we are an appropriate fit and how we can best work together.
After the initial assessment and history gathering phase, we will work together regularly — weekly or bimonthly — to create lasting healing in your relationship with food and your body. We will continue to assess together the frequency of appointments required for you to receive appropriate support and progress.

After the initial session and assessment, if it is still a mutually good fit, Lauren will offer you an individualized package for monthly billing to meet your unique needs to help you get what you're looking to accomplish with our work together.
Lauren Cash Nutrition Therapy is currently accepting clients on a waitlist. Phone and virtual video sessions (HIPAA compliant) are available when clinically appropriate.
When you book an initial session with Lauren, you will be guided through initial paperwork that must be completed prior to your first session. One of the forms that you will sign will include Lauren's most up-to-date office policy. A couple things to note on the office policy and confidentiality agreement:
- Cancellation & rescheduling policy - 48-hour notice (i.e. two full business days) is required (if your appointment is scheduled for a Monday, this means that you must cancel by Thursday of the previous week or sooner). Cancellations and reschedules not following this policy will be billed as there would not be adequate time to schedule a new client session during your reserved session time.
- Emails are answered Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
Like most RDNs in California, I do not directly bill insurance. Clients pay me at the time of services rendered and may request a superbill (like a fancy receipt) that they can use to submit to their insurance providers for potential reimbursement. It can be helpful to call your insurance company ahead of time to discover what they desire to have reflected on the superbill for reimbursement, some require diagnoses from a physician prior to reimbursing for nutrition counseling or medical nutrition therapy.
